Flexible Training
Blended Learning: Your Training, Your Time, Your Way
Flexible training designed around your life, not the other way around. Less time in the classroom. More flexibility. The same commitment to quality.
Why we're doing this
At The Security Tutor, we understand that finding the time to complete a training course isn't always easy.
Between work commitments, family responsibilities, childcare, travel and everyday life, attending several consecutive days of classroom-based training can be challenging.
That's why we're introducing Blended Learning, a flexible approach that allows you to complete certain elements of your training independently, from the comfort of your own home, before attending the essential practical and classroom-based sessions.
Whether you're working full-time, managing family commitments or simply prefer learning at your own pace, our blended learning options are designed to make professional training more accessible.
Your circumstances shouldn't prevent you from developing your skills, gaining qualifications or progressing your career.
What is blended learning?
Blended learning combines independent distance learning with traditional face-to-face teaching.
Rather than spending all your training time in a classroom, you complete approved elements of the course independently, using learning materials and resources provided by The Security Tutor.
You can work through these materials at a time that suits you, building your understanding before joining your instructor and fellow learners for the essential classroom sessions, practical training and assessments.
This approach can reduce the number of days you need to spend physically attending a training venue while ensuring you still complete the required learning.
It's the best of both worlds: flexibility when you need it, professional instruction when it matters.
The benefits
Why choose blended learning?
1. Learn at your own pace
Not everyone learns in the same way or at the same speed. Our distance learning options allow you to work through approved course material at a pace that suits you, giving you time to absorb the information and revisit topics whenever necessary.
2. Spend less time in the classroom
Where the qualification permits, completing theory or self-study elements independently can reduce the number of days you need to attend in person. That means fewer days travelling, less time away from work and potentially fewer disruptions to your daily routine.
3. Fit training around family life
We understand that childcare, school runs and family commitments can make attending consecutive full-day courses difficult. Blended learning gives you greater control over when you study, allowing you to work around the commitments that matter most.
4. Reduce travel and associated costs
Fewer classroom days can mean less money spent on fuel, public transport, parking, accommodation and meals away from home. For learners travelling from further afield, this can make accessing professional training considerably more practical.
5. Balance training with employment
Taking several days away from work isn't always possible, particularly if you're self-employed, working shifts or relying on regular income. Distance learning can help you manage your training alongside your existing employment, reducing the number of days you may need to take off.
6. Arrive prepared and confident
Completing learning materials before attending your classroom sessions gives you an opportunity to develop your knowledge in advance. This means you can arrive better prepared, with a greater understanding of the subjects you'll be discussing and practising with your instructor.
The process
How does it work?
Four simple steps to completing your training.
Choose your course
Browse our range of professional training courses and identify those offering a blended learning option. Where available, you'll see the distance learning and classroom attendance requirements before enrolling.
Complete your distance learning
We'll provide access to the appropriate course materials and instructions. You'll complete the designated learning activities in your own time, working through the required subjects before your classroom training begins. Depending on the qualification, this may include reading materials, interactive learning, knowledge checks or other approved learning activities. You'll be advised of any completion deadlines and evidence requirements.
Attend your classroom training
Once you've completed the required distance learning, you'll attend your scheduled face-to-face training sessions. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the remaining course content, practical exercises and any required supervised activities. This is where you'll have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice, ask questions and develop your skills.
Complete your assessments
You'll complete the relevant examinations and practical assessments in accordance with the requirements of your qualification and awarding organisation. Upon successful completion, your qualification will be processed through the appropriate certification procedures. The result? A recognised qualification achieved through a more flexible approach to learning.
Who it helps
Who is blended learning suitable for?
Our blended learning options can be particularly beneficial for:
Whether you're entering the security industry for the first time, renewing your qualifications or developing additional skills, we want to help remove unnecessary barriers to learning.
Our standards
Does blended learning mean lower training standards? Absolutely not.
Blended learning changes how approved elements of training are delivered. It does not remove the requirement to develop and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and practical skills.
At The Security Tutor, we believe that flexibility and professional standards should go hand in hand.
All blended learning arrangements must comply with the relevant qualification requirements, awarding organisation conditions and applicable industry regulations. Practical training, mandatory face-to-face learning and assessments will continue to be delivered in the manner required for the qualification.
Less time in the classroom does not mean cutting corners.
Our objective is simple: make training more accessible while maintaining the professional standards that employers and learners expect.
