Project ADVANCE

Veterans & Families Training and Employment Pilot

Partner Refer Train Qualify Licence Connect Employ

Project ADVANCE is a proposed pilot programme designed to help veterans and members of the Armed Forces community, including eligible family members, gain nationally recognised qualifications that can create a clear route into employment.

The programme is being developed by The Security Tutor in partnership with organisations supporting veterans and Armed Forces families into training, education and work.

The principle is simple:

Do not fund training for the sake of training. Fund a pathway that leads somewhere.

Two clear career routes

Project ADVANCE will initially focus on two vocational pathways

Participants will undertake nationally recognised accredited qualifications designed to give them practical skills, recognised credentials and a clear progression route into further training or employment.

Pathway one

Security & Protective Services

The security pathway is designed to provide veterans and Armed Forces family members with a strong foundation for employment across the UK security and events sectors. Depending on the programme and available funding, participants could undertake a package including:

Level 2 Door Supervisor Qualification

Emergency First Aid at Work

Level 2 Spectator Safety Qualification

Together, these qualifications can provide a valuable starting point for work across

Sports stadiumsFootball groundsArenasConcert venuesFestivalsEventsHospitality venuesCorporate securityProtective security environments

The pathway is deliberately designed to provide more than a single qualification. A participant may begin working within sports and event venues before progressing into additional specialist areas such as:

CCTV → Supervisory Roles → Advanced First Aid → Protective Security → Close Protection → Training & Management

For veterans in particular, many of the qualities developed during military service, communication, teamwork, situational awareness, discipline, leadership and working under pressure, can transfer naturally into these environments. Project ADVANCE helps convert those qualities into recognised civilian qualifications and employment opportunities.

Pathway two

Education & Training

Not every veteran wants to work within operational security. Many veterans possess years of practical experience, instructional ability, leadership skills and specialist knowledge that can be transferred into education and training. The Project ADVANCE Education Pathway will provide opportunities for suitable participants to work towards nationally recognised qualifications that can help them move into roles such as:

TutorTrainerInstructorAssessorInternal Quality AssurerWorkplace TrainerEmployability Trainer

This creates another potential progression route where military experience can be converted into a second career.
