The IQA Hub provides flexible outsourced internal quality assurance support for training providers, including standardisation, IQA reviews, observation visits, prepaid support hours and practical business support.
The IQA Hub is wholly associated with The Security Tutor, combining practical training experience with flexible internal quality assurance, centre support and business development services.
What Is The IQA Hub?
Running a successful training business is about far more than delivering a good course. Behind every learner, every qualification, every assessment decision and every certificate sits a quality assurance process that has to be consistent, defensible and properly documented. For many smaller training providers, independent centres and growing businesses, that is where the challenge begins. They may have excellent tutors, experienced assessors and good systems in place, but they do not always have the time, resources or need to employ a full-time Internal Quality Assurer. That is exactly where The IQA Hub comes in. The IQA Hub provides practical, flexible and independent internal quality assurance support for training providers who need professional help without the cost and commitment of employing a permanent IQA. Our approach is simple: use the support you need, when you need it.
The IQA Hub is wholly associated with The Security Tutor. That relationship brings together the training experience, sector knowledge and practical delivery background already established through The Security Tutor with a dedicated quality assurance and centre-support service. This means The IQA Hub is not simply a remote administrative service. It is built around real training delivery, real tutors, real assessors and the practical pressures faced by training providers every day.
Why Internal Quality Assurance Matters
Internal quality assurance is one of the most important parts of any regulated or certificated training operation. It helps ensure that assessors are making fair, consistent and appropriate decisions. It helps identify where tutors or assessors may need additional support. It helps centres demonstrate that assessment standards are being maintained, and it provides evidence that a provider is actively monitoring and improving the quality of its delivery.
A good IQA process should not simply be about checking boxes. It should help answer questions such as whether assessors are interpreting criteria consistently, whether learners are being treated fairly, whether evidence is sufficient, whether feedback is being recorded properly and whether sampling plans and centre procedures are being followed. When these areas are managed properly, quality assurance becomes a genuine business improvement tool rather than an administrative burden.
What The IQA Hub Does
The IQA Hub offers a range of services that can be purchased individually or as part of one of our structured packages. Our core services include standardisation sessions, IQA support by the hour, desktop IQA reviews, urgent IQA turnaround, tutor and assessor observation visits, sampling support, developmental feedback, quality assurance planning, centre review support, tutor and assessor development and general training business consultancy. This means a provider does not need to enter into an expensive long-term arrangement if that is not what they need. You can start with one service, purchase a block of hours, or use one of our ready-made IQA in a Box packages.
Standardisation
One of the most valuable things a training centre can do is make sure everybody involved in assessment is working to the same standard. A standardisation session gives tutors, assessors and IQAs the opportunity to discuss how evidence is being interpreted, how assessment decisions are being made and whether everyone is applying the same expectations. Without regular standardisation, different assessors can gradually start interpreting requirements in different ways. That creates inconsistency, and inconsistency is one of the biggest risks within assessment. Our standardisation service is designed to provide a structured session that helps bring the team back together around a common approach.
Current price: £189.99.
IQA Support Hours
Not every training provider needs an IQA working permanently within the business. Sometimes you simply need access to an experienced IQA for a few hours. That may include reviewing assessment decisions, supporting sampling activity, providing feedback to assessors, helping develop quality assurance plans or discussing centre processes. The IQA Hub provides prepaid support packages at the following rates:
- 3 hours: £150.00
- 6 hours: £288.00
- 9 hours: £414.00
- 12 hours: £528.00
The larger the block, the lower the effective hourly rate. This approach works particularly well for smaller centres and independent providers that want professional IQA support without a permanent staffing cost.
Desktop IQA Reviews
A desktop IQA review is a straightforward way to have assessment evidence independently reviewed without needing an on-site visit. We can review portfolios, assessment decisions and supporting evidence remotely and provide clear developmental feedback. The aim is not simply to identify problems. It is to help the assessor understand what is working, what could be improved and what action may be required.
Desktop IQA reviews are priced at £45.00 per review.
Urgent 12-Hour IQA Support
Training businesses do not always have the luxury of time. There may be a portfolio that needs checking quickly, a learner waiting for completion or an internal deadline approaching. For those situations, The IQA Hub offers an urgent turnaround option. The current charge for an urgent 12-hour turnaround on one IQA review is £75.00. This gives providers access to faster support when normal turnaround times are not suitable.
Tutor and Assessor Observation Visits
Quality assurance should not only look at paperwork. How a tutor or assessor actually performs is equally important. The IQA Hub offers observation visits to help providers review tutor and assessor practice in a live environment. These visits can consider delivery quality, learner engagement, assessment practice, feedback, professional standards and adherence to centre procedures.
The current cost is £299.99 per observation visit. Travel is charged at £0.40 per mile. Where overnight accommodation is required, this is currently charged at £65.00 per night. Accommodation may be required where travel exceeds approximately three hours.
IQA in a Box
One of the main services developed by The IQA Hub is IQA in a Box. The concept is simple. Instead of buying separate services individually, providers can purchase a ready-made package designed to give them a structured entry point into professional IQA support.
The standard IQA in a Box package costs £299.99. It includes:
- One standardisation session
- Three hours of IQA support
Purchased separately, those services would normally cost £339.99, giving a saving of £40.00. It is particularly suitable for smaller centres, new training providers, independent providers, businesses building their IQA processes and centres that only require occasional external support.
IQA in a Box+
For providers wanting a more comprehensive level of support, we also offer IQA in a Box+. This package combines remote support with an on-site observation. The price is £699.99. It includes:
- One standardisation session
- Six hours of IQA support
- One tutor or assessor observation visit
Purchased separately, these services would normally cost £777.98, giving a saving of £77.99. IQA in a Box+ is designed for centres that want a deeper level of independent oversight while still avoiding the cost of employing a permanent IQA.
More Than Just IQA
Although the name says IQA, the service is designed to support the wider training business too. Many providers do not just need someone to review portfolios. They need help building the systems around the training. That can include quality assurance procedures, sampling strategies, tutor and assessor documentation, standardisation processes, observation frameworks, centre policies, training records, tutor induction, CPD structures, learner documentation, audit preparation, awarding organisation readiness, internal procedures, business process development and training provider setup. Our aim is to help make the training operation more organised, consistent and professional. That is where the relationship with The Security Tutor becomes particularly valuable.
The Security Tutor Connection
The IQA Hub is wholly associated with The Security Tutor. The Security Tutor operates within the wider training and education sector, with particular experience in security, first aid, conflict management, physical intervention, stewarding and related professional training. The IQA Hub builds on that experience by focusing specifically on quality assurance and training centre support. The two services complement each other. The Security Tutor focuses heavily on training delivery, tutors and specialist course provision. The IQA Hub focuses on the systems, standards and quality assurance processes that sit behind that delivery. Together, they provide a much broader training support capability. For new providers, that can mean support from the initial setup stage through to delivery, tutor support, quality assurance and ongoing development. For established providers, it means access to experienced external support without having to expand permanent staffing.
Supporting New Training Providers
Starting a training centre can feel straightforward at first. Find a venue, choose some courses, recruit tutors, register with an awarding organisation and start delivering. In reality, there is far more involved. Providers need policies, processes, appropriate tutors and assessors, IQA arrangements, documentation, sampling systems, records, standardisation and a clear understanding of awarding organisation expectations. The IQA Hub can help businesses build these systems properly from the start. That is often far easier than trying to correct weak processes later.
Independent Support Without the Full-Time Overhead
One of the biggest advantages of The IQA Hub model is flexibility. A training provider may only deliver a small number of courses each month. Employing a full-time IQA may simply not make financial sense. Even larger centres may only need specialist support at certain points in the year. The IQA Hub allows providers to buy support based on actual need. That means you can control your costs while still having access to professional quality assurance. It also gives providers access to an independent view. Sometimes somebody outside the day-to-day running of the centre can identify things that an internal team may overlook.
A Developmental Approach
Quality assurance should never feel like somebody simply looking for mistakes. That is not the approach we want to take. Our focus is developmental. If something can be improved, we explain why. If an assessor needs support, the aim is to help them improve. If a process is weak, we help identify a practical solution. If something is working well, that should also be recognised. Quality assurance should strengthen people and systems, not frighten them.
Who Is The IQA Hub For?
The IQA Hub can support independent training providers, new training centres, established approved centres, security training providers, first aid training companies, vocational training organisations, associate training businesses, freelance tutors and assessors, businesses developing their own internal training functions and providers expanding into new qualifications. The exact support can be adapted depending on the size and structure of the organisation.
Quality Assurance Made Practical
The basic philosophy behind The IQA Hub is straightforward. Quality assurance should be professional. It should be independent. It should be properly documented. But it should also be practical. Providers should understand what is happening and why. Tutors and assessors should receive useful feedback. Managers should have clear information that helps them make decisions. And the whole process should contribute to better training. That is what The IQA Hub is designed to provide.
