Train Together. Live Together. Operate Together. Introducing The Team House, our dedicated residential Close Protection training environment in the North East of England, where students live, train and develop as a team from day one.
Train Together. Live Together. Operate Together.
What if your Close Protection training began the moment you arrived, rather than when you walked into the classroom?
At The Security Tutor, we're changing the way students experience Close Protection training. We believe that preparing someone for a career in the security industry requires more than classroom instruction, practical assessments and a certificate.
It requires teamwork, discipline, resilience, initiative and the ability to operate effectively alongside people from different backgrounds.
That's why we've introduced The Team House, our dedicated residential Close Protection training environment in the North East of England.
It's not simply somewhere to stay during your course. It's an opportunity to experience the realities of working as part of a Close Protection team.
And from the moment you arrive, you're part of that team.
Welcome to The Team House
Situated in the North East of England, The Team House provides residential accommodation for up to 12 Close Protection students, creating a practical and supportive environment where learners can live, train and develop together.
The property is conveniently located near local amenities, with good road and rail connections, making it accessible to students travelling from across the United Kingdom.
Students are accommodated in shared bedrooms, with communal living areas, kitchen facilities and dedicated training space.
The concept is simple: we want to immerse our students in team life from day one.
Close Protection operatives rarely work in isolation. Whether you're operating within a residential security team, supporting a principal during travel or working as part of a larger protective security operation, success depends on the people around you.
Living together helps students develop the cohesion, camaraderie, mutual respect and helping spirit essential to effective teamwork.
It's also where friendships and professional networks begin, often lasting long after the course has finished.
Learning Doesn't Stop When the Classroom Door Closes
One of the biggest advantages of The Team House is that it allows our instructors to take training beyond the traditional classroom environment.
Throughout your course, we'll introduce practical, scenario-based activities that reflect situations you may encounter within the Close Protection industry.
These exercises encourage students to think on their feet, communicate effectively, solve problems and work together under pressure.
And because you're living within a team environment, learning opportunities aren't restricted to normal classroom hours.
After all, operational situations don't always happen conveniently between 0900 and 1700.
Our instructors have extensive operational experience, and they understand the importance of preparing students for the unexpected.
Let's just say that we always have an event or two planned that will take you outside your comfort zone.
We won't spoil the surprise, but you'll certainly have something to talk about afterwards.
Maintaining Operational Fitness
Close Protection can be physically and mentally demanding.
While you don't need to arrive as an elite athlete, there is an expectation that students possess a reasonable level of physical fitness and are capable of participating safely in the practical elements of the course.
We encourage everyone attending to take their personal fitness seriously.
To support this, we've established an arrangement with a local gym, giving students the opportunity to continue their training and maintain their fitness during their stay.
Whether that's an early-morning workout, strength training or maintaining your cardiovascular fitness, the opportunity is there for those who want it.
Physical fitness is only part of the picture, of course. Mental resilience, professionalism, self-discipline and the ability to remain calm under pressure are just as important.
Shared Living, Shared Responsibilities
At The Team House, everyone has a part to play.
Accommodation is provided on a shared-room basis, and students have access to communal kitchen and living facilities.
A hot evening meal is provided each day, or the ingredients required to prepare a meal are supplied.
Students are responsible for maintaining the shared kitchen facilities and keeping communal areas clean and tidy.
These aren't simply housekeeping arrangements. They reinforce the importance of consideration, cooperation, taking responsibility and looking after the people around you.
Personal hygiene is also paramount, particularly when sharing accommodation with fellow students.
We're not expecting anyone to stand beside their bed every morning waiting for a Sergeant Major to conduct an inspection.
But we do expect standards to be maintained.
A professional attitude doesn't begin when you put on a suit or step into an operational role. It starts with the standards you set for yourself every day.
What Happens When The Team House Is Full?
The Team House can accommodate up to 12 students, but we recognise that demand for our training courses may exceed the available residential spaces.
That's why we've also made arrangements to accommodate students at two regionally based hotels operated by established national hotel chains.
These alternative accommodation options allow us to welcome students travelling from further afield without compromising on comfort or accessibility.
Where The Team House reaches capacity, students can be allocated hotel accommodation, with the details confirmed as part of their course arrangements.
Regardless of where you're staying, you'll receive the same quality of instruction, access to practical training and opportunities to develop your operational skills.
Our priority is ensuring that students travelling to the North East can concentrate on their training rather than worrying about finding somewhere suitable to stay.
The Operational Tempo Increases Every Day
As the course progresses, so does the tempo.
During the early stages, students concentrate on developing their knowledge, understanding procedures, building confidence and learning the fundamentals of Close Protection.
As the days progress, our instructors introduce increasingly challenging practical activities designed to develop those skills.
You'll be expected to demonstrate initiative, communicate effectively, work under pressure and support your fellow students.
The aim isn't to make life unnecessarily difficult.
It's to help you understand that Close Protection is a profession where preparation, attention to detail, flexibility and teamwork matter.
We want students to develop the confidence to make decisions, accept responsibility and adapt when things don't go according to plan.
And sometimes, that means being pushed a little further than you thought you could go.
Four Exercises. One Final Challenge.
Towards the end of your Close Protection course, everything you've learned begins to come together.
The course culminates in four practical exercises, bringing together the knowledge, skills and teamwork developed throughout your training.
These exercises challenge students to demonstrate their understanding of operational planning, communication, protective procedures, teamwork and decision-making.
They're designed to give our instructors the opportunity to assess how students apply their training and to help prepare them for the demands of working within the industry.
But there's something we make very clear to everyone who trains with us.
The Security Tutor does not operate a turn-up-and-pass training model.
Our courses have clearly defined standards, and learners must demonstrate the required competence to achieve their qualifications.
Assessments are pass or fail.
We provide the instruction, encouragement, guidance and support necessary to give every student a fair opportunity to succeed.
However, commitment, preparation and effort must come from the individual.
A certificate should represent genuine achievement, not simply attendance.
More Than a Qualification
We want students leaving The Team House to take away more than a qualification.
We want them to leave with greater confidence, stronger practical skills, a better understanding of operational expectations and professional relationships that may support them throughout their careers.
You'll meet people from different backgrounds, with different experiences, strengths and ambitions.
Some may have served in the Armed Forces or emergency services. Others may be entering the security industry for the first time.
Whatever your background, everyone has something to contribute.
And learning how to recognise and make use of those individual strengths is part of becoming an effective team.
Are You Ready to Join Us?
If you're considering a career in Close Protection and want training that goes beyond the minimum requirements, The Team House offers something different.
You'll train with experienced instructors, develop practical operational skills, live and learn alongside fellow students, and experience the importance of teamwork, discipline and professional standards.
Whether you're accommodated at The Team House or one of our partner hotels, our aim remains the same: to provide a professional, challenging and rewarding learning experience.
We don't promise it will always be easy.
We don't promise you won't be challenged.
And we certainly don't promise that simply turning up will guarantee a pass.
What we do promise is that we'll give you the opportunity, instruction and support to achieve the standards expected of a professional Close Protection operative.
Our philosophy is simple:
